Indore airport is a public airport, which provides services to Indore and adjacent areas of Madhya Pradesh. The airport is also known as Devi Ahilyabhai Holkar Airport, who belonged to the Holkar dynasty, Maratha Empire. The Indore airport is the busiest airports in Madhya Pradesh, which is located 8 kilometers west of Indore. As per information from the Airports Authority of India, Indore airport is considered to be the 20 th busiest airports in the country.

The airport site was selected in the 1935 and from July 1948 onwards, air services to Gwalior, Delhi and Mumbai started from Indore. AAI undertook the airport in April 1950 under the central financial integration scheme. In March 1966, a new runway of length 5600 feet was completed. Night landing facilities were also added.
